Documentary "BULB FICTION" in ORF 2

On Sunday June 15th at 11:05 p.m. ORF 2 broadcast the documentary "Bulb Fiction". The film takes the occasion of the ban on incandescent light bulbs to explore the influence of the industry on EU regulations, especially the "Guideline for the Regulation of Lighting Products in Private Households". The film also shines a light on the lack of knowledge or awareness of the fact that the quality of the visual environment and the quality of the light surrounding us represent a value that is not given enough consideration when it comes to climate protection.

Writer and director Christopher Mayr and cameraman Moritz Gieselmann, who came up with the idea for the film, also want to know if the end of the light bulb is also the end of democracy and how it is possible in a democracy for industry representatives and lobbyists to influence the policy decisions on which products citizens may or may not use.

The Austrian German co-production (2011, producers: Thomas Bogner, Daniel Zuta) was funded by the Film Institute, ORF Film/Television Agreement, Vienna Film Fund, German Federal Film Fund and Investment Bank Hessen. Global distribution: Telepool
