A film about love, lust and sin in Islam:
"Praise be given to God, who has placed man's greatest pleasure in the natural parts of woman, and has destined the natural parts of man to afford the greatest enjoyment to woman." These clear words were written in the 15th century by the poet Sheik Nafzawi in his Arabic guide to lovemaking which contains everything from imaginative descriptions of individual sexual positions, to a collection of various aphrodisiacs, all the way to tips for preventing premature ejaculation. But there are also very explicit passages in the Koran that show God and lust is not a contradiction in Islam. Islam even forbids suppressing sexual urges and creates a comprehensive set of rules that organize the practice of lovemaking. Today, the general image of oriental sexual morality is either that of the seductive belly dancers from "Arabian Nights", or the burqa wearing women who walk three paces behind their husbands. What very few people in the West know that Islam is actually a very sensual religion, and that even the women are entitled to sexual satisifaction. But the reality is often different, because "we live in a patriarchal society," says Seyran Ates, a Turkish women's rights activist and lawyer: "Islam needs a sexual revolution."
